The Decatur Housing Authority provides and maintains quality affordable housing with access to community resources for low to moderate income families and individuals, including the elderly and disabled, in Macon County.  With 478 Public Housing units and 1,123 Housing Choice Vouchers that we oversee, the Decatur Housing Authority is the preeminent provider of affordable housing in our community.  DHA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, disability, family status, or national origin.  We are an Equal Housing Opportunity provider.

Decatur Housing Authority maintains a professional staff that provides our clients the most effective service possible.  Employees are trained and kept abreast of current industry practices and protocols.  Management strives to assure that residents needing affordable housing in our community are afforded the best possible.  In order to provide this housing, we work cooperatively with our residents.  We are privileged to work with deserving individuals and families, and these individuals and families deserve the best service possible.

In order to assist residents seeking to improve themselves, we currently offer the Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) Program to our Section 8 voucher holders and the Resident Opportunity Self Sufficiency (ROSS) Program to our public housing residents.  Our goal is to assist residents in their quest to improve their lives and the lives of their families.
